Cluedo
Part of graduate collection.
An immersive theatre experience based on the much loved game Cluedo, from the 1950s. Staged in a warehouse space and set designed similar to the board, audiences would be amongst the Whodunit action. I was inspired by Punchdrunk theatre and other immersive theatre companies, and wanted to create a memorable experience.

The two costumes I designed and created were of Mrs Peacock, a sophisticated and sneaky lady, dressed to kill; and Mr Green, a money-obsessed, stealing, Wall Street banker.

When designing for Mrs Peacock, I researched 1950s day wear, as well as accessories and head wear. I planted 'red-herrings' within her costume, such as game counter rings and board game printed scarf to trick and test the audience. For the sake of entertainment at the annual Edinburgh College of Art costume show, I had Mrs Peacock carry a candlestick.

When researching the character of Mr Green, I envisaged him to be young and charming, to allow the audience to favour the character over others - which was done to mislead. I designed and created an emerald green velvet suit, jacket lined with golden board game print and adorned with golden coins and sequins. Board game counter cuff links and printed tie were also created. His costume was to show off his wealth and obsession. I sourced a 1950s leather briefcase which I rigged to fall open and spill out hundreds of dollars and a spanner.

Could it be Mrs Peacock in the study with the candlestick? Or Mr Green in the library with the spanner?
